In 1957, famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed a dog house for a Labrador Retriever named Eddie, one to match the home he had created for the pup’s family. In that spirit, The House Designers team has decided to build one lucky rescue dog their very own custom-built house.

“We thought this would be a great way to raise not just awareness of adopting rescues, but to also raise money for shelters and rescue organizations,” says The House Designers. “Not only are we passionate about architecture, but we are dog lovers and decided that this would be a fun project where we could use the talents of our architects to make a difference.”

Here’s how it works: If you have recently welcomed a rescue dog into your home, make a cash donation (at least $50) to an animal shelter and pen a short essay describing your four-legged family member. Send the piece along with a picture of your pup to [email protected] by Saturday, Feb. 20. The winner be announced on March 1, and the dog dwelling will even be designed to match the entrant’s home.
