If your pup loves hanging out in the backyard, a specially made dog house may be the greatest gift imaginable. But you don’t want to buy or build just any old structure. An environmentally conscious design is the way to go, and that’s what BowWow Dog Houses promises with its cedar and siding habitats.

These amazing abodes have all the comforts of home, including doors and vents, porches and windows, as well as insulation and hardwood floors. To give animals the highest level of comfort and keep them warm, dry, and well ventilated in all types of weather, BowWow Dog Houses are all custom made in the USA to be highly durable and moisture- and insect-resistant. Perhaps most importantly, they’re made with natural woods that are safe for pets and pet parents, as opposed to toxic plastics or formaldehyde-processed plywood.

BowWow Dog Houses are the brainchild of Larry Hobbs, president of Brent-Wood Products of Los Angeles, a company that manufactures industrial wooden spools. After welcoming a Bluetick Coonhound puppy named Dude into the family, Hobbs decided that the four-legged friend needed a home of his very own. When he couldn’t find one that fit the bill, he made his own out of scrap wood.

Today, he builds eco-friendly abodes for other pups, mostly in the Southern California region but he has plans to expand nationally. Prices range from $256 to $600. Soon enough, pet parents across the country will be able to construct a tiny beach house, castle, or log cabin for their furry family members via kits that come with step-by-step instructions to limit shipping costs and reduce the company’s carbon pawprint.
