Try These Treats That Benefit Dogs and Homeless Youth Alike

Homeless youth make Lindy & Company’s healthy dog treats, with proceeds going to the nonprofit that supports them.

Most people have a big heart for homeless animals, but what about homeless youth? A nonprofit called Daybreak cares for more than 500 teens and young adults without a place to call home and would like your help improving their futures, which you can do while also treating your dog.

The Ohio-based organization has a gourmet pet-treat bakery called Lindy & Company, and it’s just released five new nibbles for pups to gobble up. The line has two grain-free items, two vegan items (that are also grain free), and one gluten-free option. Flavors include Sweet Pea, Carrot Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Cranberry Supreme, and Peanutty Puppers ($6.99 for a 6-oz. bag).

All of these delicious bites are made by the homeless youth at Daybreak, where an invaluable employment program helps participants develop the skills required to get and keep reliable jobs. Daybreak not only provides work-readiness training, but also teaches financial independence and self-sufficiency, while providing emergency shelter, housing, and support to those who need it.

So every time a pooch gets a well-deserved bite of Lindy’s Bakery goodness, 100 percent of the proceeds go directly back to Daybreak. For more information, visit daybreakdayton.org.
