When humans help animals, the world becomes a better place. When pets help humans in return, that benefit is wonderfully magnified. Such is the case for Jordan, a young woman with autism, and the cats she cares for at Found Animals Adopt & Shop in Culver City, California.

As an active participant at Mychal’s Learning Place – a nonprofit that offers after-school programs for children and young adults with special needs – Jordan is not only becoming skilled at cooking, doing her own laundry, and taking care of herself, but she’s also learning how to care for cats. Working as a volunteer at Adopt & Shop – the nonprofit retail store attached to the Found Animals rescue – Jordan plays with the cats and gives them the human interaction and mental stimulation they so desperately need.

Just check out this touching, three-minute PAWsitive video of Jordan diligently working as a volunteer to help give Found Animals felines the love and attention they deserve. Her dedication is obvious and her joy is palpable.

Interestingly, while Jordan is considered relatively nonverbal and doesn’t speak all that much in her daily life, that changes when she’s around her furry friends, especially the black cats. Jordan becomes inspired to use words as she holds, kisses, and cuddles the animals while socializing them in the process.
