Shelter Dogs Model Designer Wares for #AdoptDontShopCheck out designer Rosena Sammi’s beautiful accessories, as worn by NYC shelter dogs. Playful pups and elegant jewelry may not seem like a natural match. (Have you ever worn chandelier earrings or a statement necklace to the dog park?) But designer Rosena Sammi recently brought them together in perfect harmony for a photoshoot to benefit the Animal Haven community.Taking inspiration from her Who’s Sari Now? collection – a line of jewelry made by survivors of sex trafficking in India with proceeds going to the associated NGO Apne Aap – Sammi decided to feature survivors of a different kind: rescue dogs looking for their forever homes. In fact, the founder of Apne Aap had adopted a dog, which got Sammi thinking about the important bond between people and animals. So she partnered with NYC-based nonprofit Animal Haven to showcase some of her creations on the sweet pups and bring attention to their shelter status. All but one of the dogs was available for adoption during the Rescues Wear Rosena shoot, and most have been adopted since.Photos courtesy Rosena Sammi. The four-legged models look absolutely adorable donning styles like the Odissi necklace ($350), Sanskrit fierce necklace ($165), Divya necklace ($60), some gorgeously colorful bangle bracelets ($19.99-$169), and the signature Peace Tote ($75). So maybe it does make sense to wear fine jewelry on your next dog walk, especially if it’s in support of the important #adoptdontshop campaign. Whitney C.
