She’s looking for a dog-savvy forever home that can provide her with a stable and consistent environment, not to mention plenty of cuddles. But don’t let that gray muzzle fool you – this sophisticated lady is incredibly playful for her age!

Age and sex: 10-year-old female.

Breed: Labrador and German Shepherd mix.

Size and weight: Large and 55 pounds.

Coat: Short and tan.

Location: Ahimsa House in Georgia.

Activity level: Medium-low.

Likes: Snuggling up to people, playing outside, exploring new surroundings, and riding in the car.

Dislikes: Going nose-to-nose with strange dogs.

Training: Jewels is house and crate trained, knows some basic commands, and walks well on a leash.

Yard requirements: Not necessary as long as she receives regular exercise.

Kids: Although Jewels has not been tested with children, her overall demeanor with people suggests that she would be great with them, especially older kids.

Dogs and cats: Although Jewels would prefer to be the only pet at this time, she shows great potential for responding well to socialization training with an experienced dog parent and/or canine professional.

Health issues: Jewels was treated for heartworms and spayed in December 2015. Because she was fixed late in life, she could be at higher risk for mammary tumors as she ages.

Her story: In December 2015, Jewels entered the Ahimsa House program, which helps people and their pets escape domestic violence. However, once her owner left the program, she was unable to take Jewels with her.

Her ideal forever home: Jewels would do great with a moderately active, experienced dog person who will provide her with consistency and be a firm yet gentle leader.
