Make This Puppy Lucky: Mila the Staffordshire Terrier

Are you looking for a champion treat catcher and all-around sweet girl? Check out Mila from the Washington Humane Society.

Mila is a calm, smart, and easy-going girl who adores people and learning new tricks. A champion snoozer, this gentle pup would love a special nap buddy to cuddle and sing her to sleep. Won’t you make her dreams come true?

Name: Mila.

Age and sex: 7-year-old female.

Breed: Staffordshire Terrier.

Size and weight: Large and 55 pounds.

Coat: Short, tan, and brown.

Location: Washington Humane Society.

Activity level: Medium/low.

Likes: Ear scratches, chasing bees, sniffing flowers, long walks, hanging with her people, snoozing on the couch, eating, snacking, and trading tricks for treats.

Dislikes: The salad spinner.

Training: Mila is housetrained and walks great on a leash. This super-smart girl knows lots of commands, including sit, stay, down, stand, wait, touch, crawl, speak, and paw.

Yard requirements: A fenced-in yard is not required but would be preferable, as Mila enjoys being outside and would love her own space that she could explore, sniff, and patrol.

Kids: Loves kids!

Dogs and cats: Does not show reactivity to dogs but whines when she sees them on walks. Does want to chase cats. She would do well as an only dog but has the potential to make dog friends along the way.

Health issues: In October 2014, Mila underwent an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery on her right hip. She has fully recovered thanks to great post-op care from her foster mom, but sometime later exhibited a limp on her left side. Radiographs revealed issues in her left knee that required TPLO (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy) surgery, a procedure she underwent three weeks ago. She is healing well and ready to be adopted!

Her story: Mila and her sister were surrendered when their family moved into a home that did not allow animals.

Her ideal forever home: Mila would be happiest in a home with several humans to keep her stimulated and happy.
